Eric Simmons
Psychotherapist, M.Ed., LMSW
Eric earned his master’s degree in counseling psychology at the University of Missouri and master’s degree in social work at Binghamton University. He is trained and primarily utilizes person-centered, cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectical-behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and interpersonal processing techniques in therapy. Since he started working for CTS, Eric also has an increasing interest in learning psychoanalytic therapy techniques and incorporating these into his practice as well.
As a therapist, Eric approaches the work as a process of his clients and himself striving toward mutual understanding and honesty. He brings warmth and affirmation into sessions, and he focusses on providing a safe relationship where his clients can speak their minds and hearts without judgement. Every person comes to therapy with different experiences, situations, and motives, so Eric tries to adapt his approach to whatever seems most helpful to the individual. As such, he is open to bringing new techniques and approaches to the therapeutic process.
